At just 20 years old, and already crowned with the first prize at the Van Cliburn International Competition, South Korean pianist Yunchan Lim embodies the new generation of pianists, creating subtle resonances between repertoires, aesthetics, and composers.
As the youngest laureate ever honored by this famous American piano competition, Yunchan Lim was suddenly thrust onto the international stage at the age of 18. Already recognized in his home country, where he studies at the Seoul Arts Center Music Academy and is currently continuing with Minsoo Sohn at the Korean National University of Arts, he shines in the ears of Marin Alsop with "a profound musicality and [a] prodigious technique." His juxtaposition of Webern's Variations with those of Bach, a century and a half earlier, invites a new listening experience of the famous Goldberg Variations. In the interstices of this aesthetic encounter, traversed by the symbolism of numbers and the art of metamorphosis, Yunchan Lim reaches transcendence.

The Grande salle Pierre Boulez (Symphonic Hall) boasts innovations in architecture, stage design and acoustical engineering. Thanks to a modular design, its capacity increases from 2400 people in the symphonic configuration to 3600 when the parterre is converted into a standing room area.
All five levels of the Grande salle Pierre Boulez are accessed via the entrance on Level 3 of Philharmonie, which can be reached via stairways, escalators and two lifts, with direct access from the Porte de Pantin plaza and the Philharmonie parking facility.
From the entrance, stairways and lifts inside the hall take visitors to the various levels.
The Grande Salle Pierre Boulez has thirty designated seats for people with reduced mobility.
