Philippe Alègre made his debut as a concert pianist with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, at the invitation of its conductor Michel Plasson.
The renowned pianist Aldo Ciccolini invited him to perform for the first time in Paris, at Salle Gaveau, in 1989.
Since then, he has pursued an active career in France and abroad, performing in piano duos, chamber music ensembles, and as a soloist, and has shared the stage with numerous acclaimed vocal artists.
Philippe Alègre has appeared at many major venues and festivals, including the Festival Musique d’Été and the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, the Opéra de Lyon, Les Grandes Heures de Cluny, the International Piano Festival of Riom, the Festival de Hyères, the Festival Cziffra, the Abbaye de l’Épau, the Festival d’Annecy, as well as in Saint-Étienne, Bordeaux, and internationally in Budapest, Seville, Amsterdam, Malta, Geneva, Brussels, and Athens.
In Paris, he has given numerous concerts in prestigious venues such as Salle Gaveau and Salle Cortot.
Alongside his career as a performer, Philippe Alègre was the founder and artistic director of Les Nuits Musicales du Rouergue from 2003 to 2022. He is currently the artistic director of Piano Passion, a concert series held throughout the year at Église Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre in Paris.
His discography includes several recordings: Intime (solo, 2013) and Chopin (solo, 2019), West Side Story (two pianos, with Fabrice Boulanger), Encanto (with soprano Edwige Bourdy), and Nostalgia del Tango (with accordionist Thomas Chedal).
